Lona Ileen Finney
May 2, 1949 – April 4, 2013
SALEM – Lona Ileen Finney, 63, of Salem passed away on April 4, 2013, in her home with her family by her side. As her health declined, she was loving and faithfully cared for by her sister in law, Lorna Sullenger. She was born in Dallas, Oregon on May 2, 1949 to Charles and LaHoma (Hayes) Sullenger. She married Ronald Gibson and they had four children. After his death in 1993, she married Larry Finney.
She was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed caring for her family and was an excellent homemaker. She worked for a time in retail, but became disabled when she was 47 and spent her later years gardening, oil painting, and enjoyed interior and exterior design.
She is survived by her children, Rick Gibson, of Homer, Alaska, Darron Gibson, of Gilbert, Arizona, Larry Gibson, of Grand Prairie, Minnesota, and Lori Shaw, of North Glenn, Colordao. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, as well as her brothers John Sullenger, Othy Sullenger, and Chuck Sullenger, all of Dallas, Oregon, and sister, LaMona Wills, of Thackerville, Oklahoma. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Ronald Gibson, and her second husband, Larry Finney in 2012. She is also preceded in death by her grandson, David Allen Massey, in 1993, and four of her brothers, Charles, Virgil, Floyd, and Clarence, and her parents.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Willamette Valley Hospice for the care they provided throughout the last few months. Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center is caring for the family.
